Because of this short study tour, I understood more about the cultures of U.S.A. I can’t wait to share what happened in California during the three weeks’ study tour. In order to make everyone understand clearly, I will elaborate it with four parts.

First, I would like to share my experience of the home stay because it’s my first time. I had a roommate, Penny. Normally my home mom provided breakfast and dinner for us every day. Because she was busy working, sometimes we had to prepare breakfast for ourselves. There was usually lots of stuff in the fridge, so we won’t get hungry. Make your own meals. She taught us how to use the washing machine to do the laundry. Sometimes, my home mom might drive us to somewhere. For example, she took us to the outlet of Long Beach, IN and OUT restaurant, and so on.

For my daily life, my roommate and I went to school on foot every day. Fortunately, it only took us twenty minutes by walk. We treated the walk as an exercise though it was sometimes tiring. Most of the students with us to be here usually took a bus to school.

For the study, while getting to California State University, I found the campus was gorgeous. It was filled with buildings, trees, flowers…etc. Sometime when I felt tired, I usually went to the library, ordering a cup of coffee to make me relaxed. You could see restaurants everywhere. Therefore, you were never hungry. There were several choices for the meals. For example, Chinese food, Subway fast food, Greek food, etc. I usually tried the different flavors. It’s fun. But, something terrible happened with me. There was once I had to use the computer in the library to do my report. Because I was a new student, I didn’t own myself user’s name and password. I asked a guy to do me a favor. He just taught me how to set my password and user’s name with which I could start to use the computer. Suddenly I felt something hold me and it’s right the guy. I ran away. When finishing the computer work, I went to the information desk to tell people there about what happened with me. I thought the guy’s behavior ruined this friendly campus.

Before the class began, we took a replacement test to make sure what kind of level I was. First, they divided all the students into A, B. C. and D four levels, taking listening, reading and writing classes. The schedule was tight for students through Monday to Friday to improve our English abilities in listening, speaking writing and reading. My teachers taught us how to find a perfect paragraph and do a presentation well. As long as I had any question, my teacher would assist me to solve the problems.

After school, I always joined school activities, especially the conversation lab. There I met many friends from different countries. We shared different cultures with each other, which improved my ability in English speaking and broadened my field of the world. In addition, we had ice cream social and summer pool party. I was very impressed of the summer pool party. We enjoyed many kinds of delicious food and played bowling ball and billiards with lots of friends from other countries.

Finally, I really appreciated my American teachers Layla and Aziz, and Chinese teacher Tracy. When I was chosen to deliver the speech, they tried their best to help me out with the script. Without their help, I couldn’t performance that well. Thanks California for supporting me a variety of resources to make me become better in English. Thank you, all. Thank you, everyone! It’s really an unforgettable study tour.
